Home > Guide for Foreign Visitors > General Information Status Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) is a government-funded research institute which was founded in 1974 September to comprehensively perform academic research and technological developments for the prosperity of astronomy and space science and to spread the consequent accomplishments. Mission & Vision Following the Innovative Roadmap for Medium- and Long-term Development Strategies for the decade of 2007-2016, KASI has set a new mission and a vision as follows. Mission : We seek scientific answers to the ultimate questions on the Universe. Vision for the next decade : KASI will become a top-class research institute of astronomy and space science, and will lead the era of space science. Site & Facility Opportunities to work at KASI KASI Post-doc Program KASI recruits outstanding young astronomers all over the world based on their excellency. The official recruit announcements are posted on AAS every twice a year.(April to May, November to December each year) KASI-Carnegie Fellowship Program This program focuses on the fostering of excellent manpower to be able to make a contribution to the GMT(Giant Magellan Telescope) project. KASI and the Carnegie Institute jointly manage the fellowship program. The successful candidates can have an opportunity to study in both institutes for 4 years. Appointed researcher KASI is always open to the challenging and remarkable researchers all over the world. The position of appointed researcher is treated the same as regular staff excluding the limited term of employment.
