The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) is a government-funded research institute located in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. 1. Microlensing
The Variable Objects (VOs) group invites applications for one postdoctoral position in microlensing.
We are interested in applicants familiar with analysis of microlensing events detected by the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet), which is doing a 24-hour continuous observations toward the Galactic bulge using a 1.6 m wide-field telescope at each of three different sites in Chile, Australia, and South Africa. The VOs group is working on various researches including exoplanets, eclipsing binaries, pulsating stars, and globular clusters. Especially, exoplanets is the most active in the group, and it is being studied through the radial velocity, transit, and microlensing. For those researches, we can use KASI instruments including BOES, LOAO, and KMTNet.

2. Radio Astronomy
The KASI radio astronomy division invites applications for a postdoctoral position. The successful applicant will work for the Korea-Japan Correlation Center (KJCC), the Korean node of the East Asian ALMA regional center (EA-ARC), or the star formation and evolution group.
The position is available from March 1, 2018, but the start date is negotiable. The research budget of 6,000,000 Korean Won (~USD 5,357) is guaranteed. Additional travel funds related to the KJCC and EA_ARC activities will be also provided.
The KJCC (http://kjcc.kasi.re.kr) is a correlation center for the VLBI data of KVN. KaVA, and East Asian VLBI Network. The successful applicant is expected to spend about 30% of his/her time to support the operation of KJCC (and KVN). The KJCC is particularly interested in candidates who are familiar with VLBI observations and data analysis.
The ALMA Group (http://alma.kasi.re.kr) is the Korean node of the EA-ARC . The group supports the Korean astronomical community for the preparation of ALMA observations, data reduction and evaluation and help-desk duty. The successful applicant should spend 50% of his/her time as a member of the node, and other 50% for his/her own research. Although preference will be given to applicant working in the area of radio astronomy, excellent applicant who could successfully conduct the supporting job description will seriously considered.
The star formation and evolution group (http://starforme.kasi.re.kr) is interested in candidates who work on evolved stars in our Galaxy. The successful applicant is expected to carry out his/her own research projects and actively collaborate with the group members. 3. AGN Research
Active Galactic Nuclei research group of KASI Radio Astronomy Division invites applications for two postdoctoral positions to work on AGN researches.
The starting date is 1st of March 2018. The beginning date is negotiable, but not later than 1st of September 2018. Ample financial support for research activities will be provided.
The successful candidates are encouraged to participate in the on-going researches of the groupsuch as radio and X-ray surveys, AGN jet physics, AGN evolution, interaction with their host galaxies and clusters, or VLBI astrometry (See http://agn.kasi.re.kr). They are expected to suggest self-initiated researches as well.
The candidates who have research plans to utilize intensively the KVN (Korean VLBI Network, http://kvn.kasi.re.kr), KaVA (KVN and VERA Array, http://kava.kasi.re.kr) and other related facilities such as EHT for her/his research and for the collaboration will be considered positively in evaluation.

4. Solar Corona
The solar and space weather group invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow positions in corona, solar wind and CME research using solar coronagraph. For this position we call for enthusiastic and creative scientists to work on basic research in prospect of the future science to be carried out using the new coronagraph.
Those positions are available from March 1, 2018. The beginning date is negotiable. Provision of additional research fund is also negotiable.
The group is the research and development center for science, application, and service related to the Sun and space weather. The group is currently working to develop a solar coronagraph on International Space Station in collaboration with NASA. 5. Infrared Astronomy
The space astronomy group in KASI invites applications for one postdoctoral position for the research of infrared-bright extragalaxies (especially high-redshift star-forming galaxies).
This position is available from March 1, 2018, however, the starting date is negotiable. This position is initially for two years with a possible extension of one more year, depending upon his/her research performance, mutual agreement or funding situation.
An additional research fund for travel and other expenses will be provided each year. The amount of additional research fund is also negotiable.
The space astronomy group is active in developing korean infrared space instruments (MIRIS and NISS) as well as the future candidate mission (e.g., SPHEREx). The research projects are also underway in various fields of infrared astronomy, especially in investigating the origin of Cosmic Infrared Background using two extragalactic deep surveys (North Ecliptic Pole and South Ecliptic Pole).
The postdoc will have full access to all the resources and facilities in the below. KASI resources and observing facilities include KVN, KaVA, the 14-meter Taeduk radio telescope, the 1.8-meter Bohyunsan optical telescope, the 1.0-meter Mt. Lemmon optical telescope, KMTNet (Korea Microlensing Telescope Network), ALMA through East Asia Region and the JCMT 12-meter telescope through East Asia Observatory.

6. Planetary Science
The Planetary Science group invites successful applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in observational/theoretical planetary science field.
Those positions are available from March 1, 2018. The beginning date is negotiable. A reasonable research fund can be provided with negotiation.
The group is actively working on small solar system bodies, such as the Moon, asteroid and comets, by using polarimetric, photometric observations to understand their physical properties and numerical simulations to investigate their dynamical evolutions.

8. Cosmology 2
For the position to work with Prof. Shafieloo, we are interested to an applicant to work on advanced statistical methods of data analysis and their applications in studying various cosmological observations. This would involve working on innovative algorithms to deal with large flow of data from future cosmological surveys (Cosmology Big Data) such as LSST. The position is available from August 1.

9. Cosmology 3
There are two projects with Prof. Parkinson. The first will involve developing the theoretical understanding and tools to exploit data from large-area optical spectroscopic surveys, in particular for the testing theories of dark energy and modified gravity. The position will involve planning for the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey. Knowledge and experience of some aspect of cosmological theory is essential. Some experience with data analysis is welcomed by not essential.
For the second position with Prof. Parkinson, the applicant will be working on cosmological data from the ASKAP-EMU (Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder Evolutionary Map of the Universe) large-area radio continuum survey, and using this data to generate data products and test and constrain cosmological models. Knowledge and experience of some aspect of cosmological theory and/or analysis is essential. Experience with radio astronomy observations and data is welcome, but not required. 10. Theoretical Astrophysics
The theoretical astrophysics group (TAG) in the Center for Theoretical Astronomy at KASI invites applications for one postdoctoral fellow position to join our group from March 1, 2018. The starting date is negotiable. The initial appointment is for 2 years, with possible extension to the third year, depending on research performance.
We are looking for excellent candidates with strong background in theoretical astrophysics or computational astrophysics. However, priority will be given to candidates with experience in one of the following topics: cosmic dust, interstellar polarization, star and planet formation, MHD simulations, or interstellar exploration. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Alex Lazarian (UW-Madison) and Dr. Thiem Hoang on the topics of mutual interests in the aforementioned areas.
We offer a competitive package of salary and benefits, and an additional research fund of ~ 8,500 USD per year will be provided. Postdoctoral fellows are also eligible to apply for their own grants from National Research Foundation.
The theoretical astrophysics group is a recently established research group in KASI. The group currently has 2 permanent researchers, 3 Junior Research Leaders, and 2 postdoc fellows. Our research focuses on the new frontiers of theoretical astrophysics and gravitational wave astrophysics, aiming to become one of the leading theoretical astrophysics groups in Republic of Korea. The Center for Theoretical Astronomy, consisting of cosmology and historical astronomy, and theoretical astrophysics groups, is an international research environment where English is usually used for academic activities, with 7 foreign members (3 permanent staffs and 4 postdoctoral fellows) from 5 different countries.
The TAG KASI has access to the High-Performance Computing Resources managed by KASI including a Linux cluster of about 1,000 cores of Xeon-CPU.
