 The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) is a government-funded research institute located in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. We conduct front-line research in various fields of astronomy, astrophysics and space science, develop astronomical instruments and operate facilities in Korea and overseas. We are currently looking for creative and outstanding postdoctoral scientists.

   The successful candidate will be provided with the remuneration (starting from around 32,400,000 KRW(about 29,969 USD) per annum excluding severance pay) depending on qualification, research budget and financial supplement for health insurance and national pension, one-way airfare to join the KASI (economy class), and a dormitory room for single/double if needed. (1) Galaxy Evolution 
The galaxy evolution group invites applications for postdoctoral fellow positions in the following research areas:
I. Galaxy Clusters: We ?are particularly interested in a young and creative researcher to work on either (i) co-evolution of galaxy clusters and their member galaxies or (ii)? detailed stellar populations of cluster galaxies using photometric and spectroscopic data. Preference will be given to candidates with experiences in deep imaging analysis of galaxy clusters.
II. Numerical Simulations: We study the link between galaxy evolution and their location in the cosmic web using numerical simulations. The successful candidate will develop and apply a new technique to model galaxies in their cosmological context. Experience with numerical simulations of galaxies is desirable, and good coding skills are essential, combined with an interest in galaxy evolution.
III. Big Data Analysis: The selected postdoc will be mainly devoted to big data analysis and studies of unusual objects by using statistics and machine learning methods in clustering, classification, and regression. Applicants should have obtained a PhD in astrophysics, astronomy, physics, statistics, computer science, or related fields. We particularly welcome candidates with good programming skills and experience with statistics and machine learning methods. 
Those positions are available from September 1, 2018. The beginning date is negotiable. A minimum research fund of 5,000,000 Korean Won (~4,500 USD) will be provided each year. Provision of additional research funds is also negotiable. The group is consistently growing and is active in various fields of observational/theoretical galaxy evolution researches, covering interstellar medium, supernovae, dwarf galaxies, massive galaxies, galaxy clusters at nearby and distant universe. (2) Radio Astronomy 1
TRAO invites a postdoctoral position for a researcher who has an experience with radio astronomy and its operation. This position is available from September 1, 2018. The beginning date is negotiable. An additional research fund of 7,000,000 Korean Won (~US$6,000) will be provided each year. Provision of additional research fund is also negotiable. TRAO has operated with 4X4 array receiver system (85GHz~115GHz) from 2016. There have been many improvements for scientific observation (https://trao.kasi.re.kr). The postdoc will have time to use this resources for inspection and operate them for user support. The operation work will be 50% of the duties. The ratio and detailed affairs can be negotiable.

(3) Radio Astronomy 2
The star formation and evolution group at KASI invites applications for two postdoctoral positions in radio and infrared astronomy to work on early star-forming processes or evolved stars in our Galaxy. 
The position is available from September 1, 2018, but the starting date is negotiable.
The research budget of 6,000,000 Korean Won (~USD5,000) is guaranteed. Additional travel funds will be also provided if necessary.
The star formation and evolution group (http://starforme.kasi.re.kr) is interested in candidates who work on early star forming processes and evolved stars in our Galaxy. The successful applicants are expected to carry out his/her own research projects and actively collaborate with the group members, who are currently leading several large projects using JCMT, KVN/KaVA, and TRAO 14m. (4) AGN Research
Active Galactic Nuclei research group of KASI Radio Astronomy Division invites applications for a postdoctoral position to work on AGN researches.
The starting date is 1st of September 2018. The beginning date is negotiable, but not later than 1st of March 2019. Ample financial support for research activities will be provided.
The successful candidates are encouraged to participate in the on-going researches of the groupsuch as radio and X-ray surveys, AGN jet physics, AGN evolution, interaction with their host galaxies and clusters, or VLBI astrometry (See http://agn.kasi.re.kr).They are expected to suggest self-initiated researches as well.
The candidates who have research experience and plan to utilize intensively the KVN (Korean VLBI Network, http://kvn.kasi.re.kr), KaVA (KVN and VERA Array, http://kava.kasi.re.kr) and other related facilities such as EHT for her/his research and for the collaboration will be considered highly in evaluation.

(5) Infrared Astronomy
The space astronomy group in KASI invites applications for one postdoctoral position for the research of infrared-bright extragalaxies (especially focused on high-redshift star-forming galaxies).
This position is available from September 1, 2018, however, the starting date is negotiable. This position is initially for two years with a possible extension of one more year, depending upon his/her research performance, mutual agreement or funding situation.
An additional research fund for travel and other expenses will be provided each year. The amount of additional research fund is also negotiable.
The space astronomy group is active in developing Korean infrared space instruments (MIRIS and NISS) as well as in future candidate missions (e.g., SPHEREx). The research projects are also underway in various fields of infrared astronomy, especially in investigating the origin of Cosmic Infrared Background using two extragalactic deep surveys: North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) and AKARI Deep Field – South (ADF-S).
The postdoc will have full access to all the resources and facilities in the below. KASI resources and observing facilities include KVN, KaVA, the 1.8-meter Bohyunsan optical telescope, the 1.0-meter Mt. Lemmon optical telescope, KMTNet (Korea Microlensing Telescope Network), GEMINI/MMT through K-GMT Science Program, ALMA through East Asia Region and the JCMT through East Asian Observatory.

(6) Solar Corona
The solar and space weather group invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow positions in corona, solar wind and CME research using solar coronagraph.
Those positions are available from September 1, 2018. The beginning date is negotiable. Provision of additional research fund is also negotiable.
The group is the research and development center for science, application, and service related to the Sun and space weather. The group is currently working to develop a solar coronagraph on International Space Station in collaboration with NASA.
