GMT Project Status and K-GMT Activities 2026-09-01

The Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) project is in its final design phase in 2026, aiming for getting financial support from the US National Science Foundation (NSF) to complete construction. In this presentation, the current activities and prospects regarding the final design of the GMT will be introduced and a brief summary of the efforts by the Korean astronomical community in preparation for the GMT era will be reviewed.
